The first edition

The first edition held on April 28, 2023, aimed to shine a light on the economic, social and cultural role of catering in our country.

The appeal of the national event held in Rome – at the same time as dozens of events spread throughout the country – was answered by institutional partners, associations and catering businesses in Italy and around the world.

The presentation of Giornata della Ristorazione was held at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy in Rome.

Along with businesses, the undisputed protagonist of this first edition was bread, a central element in the everyday life of Italian gastronomic culture and a symbol, as simple as it is powerful, of the values of hospitality, conviviality and sharing.

Indeed, bread represents the popular strength of Italian cuisine, which has expressed and expresses professionalism and unsurpassed products in the world, but does not forget the last.

It is since the last Identità Golose in Milan that we had marked a new date on our gastronomic calendar, that April 28. This will be from 2023 the Giornata della Ristorazione, an unprecedented grassroots, inclusive, supportive and deeply ethical annual initiative with the aim of celebrating sharing and a renewed sense of community.

From Ora d'Aria in Florence to Armani Ristorante in Milan, from Amo in Venice to La Madonnina del Pescatore in Senigallia to Da Vittorio in Brusaporto, passing through establishments in Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Austrialia, China and Brazil: there are thousands of Italian restaurants-in our country and abroad-that have joined the first "Giornata della Ristorazione," scheduled for April 28, an event promoted by Fipe-Confcommercio (Italian Federation of Public Establishments), a true celebration of the made-in-Italy hospitality culture, which has made us famous around the world and is one of our most powerful tourist attractions. The goal is to create the first real, big event dedicated to Italian catering and to enhance a strategic sector that, after the difficult years of the pandemic, shows signs of recovery but, particularly for haute cuisine, is rethinking its business model, between costs and economic sustainability, as highlighted by the WineNews analysis.

These are some of the numbers from Giornata della Ristorazione, which will launch its first edition on April 28.
